Coach Sanderell ran at Lancaster High School, graduating in 2013. As a senior, Coach Sanderell was a team captain for both cross country and track. Also as a senior, Coach Sanderell headed a fundraiser in the memory of Barry Walker, a former Lancaster stand out athlete who passed away due to Pancreatic cancer. Coach Sanderell then ran for Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was Second Team All-SWAC in cross country as a freshman. This is Coach Sanderell's eighth season as an assistant track coach. He is also the head cross country coach at Bloom Carroll, and led the boys cross country team to Mid-State League Titles in the 2019 and 2020 seasons, along with earning District runner-up in the 2019 season. He also serves at the volunteer indoor track coach.
